FIELD DISPATCH · SPRING 2026

Kentucky Highlights

Five days on the Bourbon Trail, condensed to the moments that stuck. Longer than an Instagram post, less than a full essay — a field report from the road.

01 — Willett, golden hour

The rickhouse glows

Late sun through the ricks, barrels breathing. The distillery quiet but for the creak of aging wood.

02 — Buffalo Trace, the loading dock

A line out the door

Allocation day. The crowd patient, the pours generous, the gift shop picked clean by noon.

03 — Bardstown, main street

Every other storefront a bar

A town that runs on brown water. We found a dusty pour of stitzel-era Weller three doors down from the hotel.

04 — The drive home

One for the road

A last pour before the airport, poured neat, sipped slow. The trail already pulling us back.
